…This is not just a fashion collection this is the press release for the tour
Words by: Gene Sibeko
“I am sure we are all asking ourselves, why is the queen breadcrumbing us with her latest album rollout? Where are the visuals, my Queen? However, in true stan culture, we also know Beyoncé is an incredibly strategic artist in the way she works. Nothing is just a coincidence. Rousteing and Knowles-Carter spent 5 months working on this collection, and each piece is named after the songs on her latest studio-recorded album Renaissance.
Some predict the release of the collection was necessary to shift the noise from Beyoncé’s Ivy Park departure with Adidas. The news about her relationship with Adidas coming to an end surfaced the day before the joint announcement of the Renaissance x Balmain collection. This collaboration with Balmain sure did make noise and history. No musician has ever turned their music into high-end fashion. The collection already has a French Vogue Cover where the musician is dressed in the dazzled HEATED look.
“Olivier is a dream collaborator and a constantly innovating and evolving creative. All that he has done as a Black designer in breaking down and opening doors has been inspiring. From our very first meeting, to his designs over the years for my performances and appearances, I knew one day I would work with him on a collection. I am so proud of what we created and the synergy that formed between our teams.” —Beyoncé”
Oliver Rousteing and Beyoncé are no strangers to merging the love of fashion and music to create art. In 2018, the greats designed a fashion capsule inspired by Beyoncé’s Beychella looks. Fast forward to 2022, the musician drops her 7th solo studio album and a tease video for the visuals to I’m That Girl. Despite fans waiting in anticipation for more, tour dates have been released. Her first performance is in Stockholm, Sweden on the 10th of May. Dare I say, but I agree with fan predictions. This 16-piece collection is the avant-garde press release to ignite excitement for the upcoming tour and possibly to follow on April 4th, the highly sought-after visuals of the songs.
